is an adaptation of the Australian MarriageWorks video series released in 2001 for use in small groups. Since then pastors have asked for something specifically for engaged couples, hence MarriageWorks PREP.
This course is for engaged couples and includes six, one hour DVD sessions. The accompanying His and Hers Workbooks provide a practical mechanism for the happy couple to complete individually, then share their answers with each other. We suggest the couple should be ready to discuss their answers with their pre-marriage counsellor.
MarriageWorks PREP is designed for individual couples who want a better understanding of Christian marriage. It will be especially helpful for couples who may not have access to pre-marriage counselling. There are two, 70 page workbooks (a His and a Hers) that include additional teaching and about 90 perceptive questions that are intended to help each person describe their hopes and dreams, as well as their expectations of marriage. Also, packaged with MarriageWorks PREP is a complimentary copy of Drs. Amelia and Greg Clarke's book One Flesh.
Since many pastors settle on six weeks of pre-marriage counselling for their clients, we have designed MarriageWorks PREP to fit that time frame. Pastors can still use their counselling sessions as they usually do, but now they have the opportunity of giving six additional hours of marriage teaching to their counsellees by requiring them to view the MarriageWorks PREP course at home and complete the weekly exercises. Pastors and counsellors can purchase MarriageWorks PREP and additional His and Hers Workbooks (in sets of 5) as they are needed in their work.
MarriageWorks PREP can also be used as a stand alone pre-marriage course, especially for couples in isolated places. It is also for couples who are separated by long distances during their engagement, and are unable to be together for pre-marriage counselling in person.
