Jim & Grace Vine

The creators of MarriageWorks

Jim grew up in Brisbane, Australia, and Grace in Wheaton, Illinois, USA. They met in Chicago when both were studying at Moody Bible Institute, and married two years later. Jim joined OAC Ministries in 1957, and together they have served in Victoria, NSW, and Queensland, as well as in USA. In 1979 Jim & Grace taught their first Marriage Growth Seminar in Brisbane, and subsequently have taught marriage and family seminars from Perth to Hobart to Cooktown, carrying along scores of relevant book titles, teaching cassettes, and their own musical recordings. Previously, the Vine Family musical band toured the Eastern States in the early 80s, and added flesh and blood credibility to their teaching on family life.

In February 1987 OAC Family Life Programs was formed as a department of the Queensland branch of OAC, and in 1995 Family Life Programs was made a division of OAC Ministries. Realising the Vines would one day be unable to travel the FLP Council decided to adapt their Marriage Growth Seminar into a video series for small group use called MarriageWorks. This was released in September 2001. The adaptation for engaged couples, MarriageWorks PREP was released in July 2005. At the end of 2005 the Vines retired from OAC Family Life Programs and continuing the supply of MarriageWorks materials through their family business, Darview P/L.

OAC Ministries

OAC Ministries began in 1892 as the Coogee Open Air Mission. In 1922, because open air work had become its major evangelistic ministry the name was changed to Open Air Campaigners.

Through the years it has taken the message of the good news of Christ to those who never knew of God’s love. In 1983 the name was changed to OAC Ministries (Outreach And Church Ministries).  Today OACM operates in five Australian States, presenting the gospel in schools, country shows, festivals, caravan parks, holiday resorts, camps, youth rallies and churches.  OACM staff are adept in the use of sketching, drama, puppetry, music and the preaching of the Word.

OACM is a member of OAC International, a fellowship of national organisations serving in 20 countries with over 100 full time staff members around the world.
